What length of wrap do you need to cover a R53 header?

I have yet to see anything apllied by spray-can that holds up. maybe it would stand a slight chance if the metal was blasted first, but straight over, I don't think so. It does say that it is used OVER the wrap, which might work if the wrap keeps the temp down.

Personally i would suggust 30 ft. Just know that it is very hard on the header to keep all that heat in it.
But the wrap keeps engine bay temps down extremely well.

Yes I have heard the same thing about wrapping headers being hard on them, but I wish I had some way to keep the heat out of my cabin, it is the only drawback I have encountered with my Mynes V2 header. Other than that the V2 is one of the best mods I have installed.

Some of us old timers on MINI forums have seen many threads and posts over the years with regards to hedder wrapping. If you are using a stainless steel hedder of fair to good quality it is not likely you will ever have any (hard on hedder) issues.
Wrapping was a common practiced art in my shop for over 30 years to control exhaust temperature and maintaining exhaust speed velocity and radiant heat control.
If you are wrapping steel pipe proper preparation by way of sand or bead blasting and than applying heat paint. (*none curable is always the best for exhaust) Wrapping the exhaust component using the wet technique is the easiest and than when dry applying the *heat paint to seal up your work.

No ceramic coating or any other direct metal application process can reduce the radiant heat as well as wrapping can.

If this is your first time wrapping wear disposable cloths long sleeves do it down wind and take a long soapy shower when finished. And the SS straps can cut your fingers like a razor! LOL

My hedder has been wrapped as pictured since 2003 with 42K miles. Wet and dry weather up and down CA coast HWY 1.

    header.
Alice, your having radiant heat problems with the Mynes header?
Did you remove all of your stock heat sheilds?
How odd, I dont have any of that with my header
maby that header routes closer to the firewall?
