Helix Intercooler Introductory Offer We are finally ready to offer a special introductory price on our Stepped Core Intercooler for the second generation MINI. Our first production run is now under way, and we wanted to extend a one-time special price for those who have been waiting so patiently for the release of our newest revision to the intercooler. We have stepped up production of this cooler, which has allowed us to be very aggressive on price, even while spending more on a core with greater fin density and all new cast end tanks. The regular retail price will be $599, but we will be running a special introductory offer of $539. Here's how it will work. If you want to get in on the introductory offer, go to our website, and select the introductory offer. It will charge a $75 deposit which will lock in your price. The balance of the price, plus shipping, will be charged when we ship the cooler. If we get 25 or more deposits, we will pay the shipping as well! The coolers will be shipped in August when the production run is complete. We will keep a running tally here of deposits so folks know if they've reached the free shipping threshold. Here Is The Tally So Far: Paid Deposits: EC JG NP DT (X2) DC LK RD JD RT JM JI GT BM RL BL DA RA TL BE TR JF JA JM HS JB AC JB NK CS AE GS AR CN CB BM LH RG MSA MP KT If you haven't been following the developments and testing here are some results of recent testing we performed on our dyno, as well as the street. The biggest improvement that we've made to the new intercooler is in the end tanks, where we used CFD modelling to improve air flow and reduce pressure drop.
It looks beautiful! I'll bet it is even prettier in person. How does it compare, performance wise, to the Helix first generation step core intercooler?
This is a great price. People should be all over this offer. For those that don't keep up on these things, used Helix inter coolers heave been selling for a little more than this intro price.
HMMMMMMM..... Color me interested.... Eric... Does this work with all R56's including the change in the bumper carrier? Or will modifications be required to fit properly?
I'm interested, and will probably get one, but it will have to be next year. Heck even at $599 it seems like a bargain! I got other things to attend to at the moment or I'd be on this faster than it took to type this.
I’m not a track rat, ….I love autoxing and general performance driving. Most all of the folks I run with drive first gen MINIs. …ok insert jokes about R56, heard them all, but that’s what I own so thats what I run (and love). I digress….. I’ve gotten input that aftermarket intercoolers on R53 may not have been a great mod for autoxing. The point being....that the heat soak takes longer to cool down once you start moving. Is this the case for R56 Helix intercooler? Should one only consider this mod if tracking your MINI. Really appreciate your input. Thanks
^The benefits are measurable both track and street^. We did measure a moderate power gain over the other coolers we tested, but the biggest improvement is in limiting what is lost in either hot weather or aggressive driving. I have updated the original post to reflect those who are in the intro offer. We're about half way to free shipping!
Just when my meth system fails on the R53 again, and I need a new one. $599 Is still a heck of a deal, eventually the Porker will get one.
Well.... can't afford it, but I'm in! I've been hemming and hawing about one of the flea-bay knockoffs because I couldn't justify the high price for a name brand. I saw this and only took two days to talk myself into it. Can't beat the price or quality. August delivery won't be a problem since I'm only able to drive the Mini for short periods of time because of some repair work to the left arm. Now just need to pick up a DP and have it jet hot coated and I'll be ready for a tune. With luck, the Mini and I will be ready for the Dragon in October. Thanks for the deal guys!
With this deal I would think folks would be snatching up the available R56s just so they would have a car to put a Helix IC onto.
Let me know if you are interested in a JCW OEM cat. I have one ceramic coated black with maybe 1000 miles on it. Won't throw an O2 code like the catless DPs.
Took the GP to work today... man this intercooler makes one hell of a difference in the hot and humid weather.
