Hello there, my name is Joseph, and i'm in the Dallas fort Worth. I don't have a mini :nonod: but i've met a few of you in person before (just horrible with names. Anyways, I have an 01 MR2 Spyder that I race at TexasTimeTrials, and am starting to race in more Auto-x's locally. I also daily drive a 91 MR2 Turbo. However, my little sister does have a mini, an 09 Cooper S convertible to be precise, and i've done my job as an older brother whose been car crazy and she has asked me to start getting her car ready for her to race with me. I'm thinking of just getting a custom-fabbed Magnaflow/Borla catback to start with so she can hear a difference and having her race it completely stock until she gets used to it. I intend to search as soon as I finish posting this, but quick question, will a 20 offset 8" wide wheel with a 225/45/15 tire fit on the MCS? I'm wondering if I could just throw my track wheels on her car or if i'll need to look for something else once she starts burning up the stock rubber. And since everything is useless without pics. and my rides Look forward to getting that mini (and its driver) faster. Also, does anyone have any recommendations for exhaust fabrication in Dallas/Fort Worth?
Yeah, I picked out the MK2 for her (it was supposed to be her car). But it broke down on me 2 or 3 times in the first week (all issues sorted). And she and my parents realized she needed something that would reliably start every day to get her to school. We also realized the bass drum she plays in the school band wouldn't fit in the MR2 so it was all part of a devious strategy to add another midengine rwd vehicle to my garage, lol. She got side swiped a few weeks back by some guy in a red vette (who didn't stop) so it's been in the shop. Thank god for full coverage. Long term plan for the Cooper is to prep it for STX, or semi prep it. I'm not expecting it to be a competitive car since it is an automatic soft top. Auto aside, it's a blast to drive, steering response is very similar to when my MR-S was stock.
Ah, he was probably so old he didn't even know he hit anyone... Sorry about the probs, but glad you got things sorted and insurance is covering.
Welcome to M/A, you'll find it's a great place. Tell your sister she can also join. Yeah, and what is it with Corvette drivers anyway?..... Must have been smoking something. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ut-mkTz2AAM]YouTube - hai karate[/ame]
Hello Joseph, and welcome. For MINI camaraderie in your area MetroplexMINI. The wheel you asked about won't have enough clearance for the S brakes.
Thanks, I had a feeling the 15s wouldn't fit, it's a shame since 225 RS3s are so cheap Maybe, I haven't seen if the leg humping is as bad here as other forums,
Welcome aboard! There are plenty of chicks here too - so the boys are mostly well behaved  How about a roll bar? I don't know any tracks out here that will let a convertible on them without one. And, yeah, don't get me started about Corvette drivers - (start self censoring here). happy vicarious motoring!
I think I remember that yellow MR2. I was looking at the wing and the very unique mounting method that goes through the bodywork and actually is on the frame. Welcome, and thanks for joining.
well the wing isn't on frame yet, but I do have a MA decal between the vents that you gave me. For now she should just be doing auto-x so roll bar isn't an issue, if she gets serious about racing, i think a first gen miata with a manual would be a better platform to track (because, who cares if you put a miata into a wall ) Same reason I still won't track the Spyder, i'm not willing to write it off.
