Hello All - Obviously...I am new here and new to the Cooper world. I have had my 2011 Countryman since last Thursday night and 1500 miles later...here I am. :ihih: I absolutely love this car and I am positive that my motorcycle will not get very much attention come summer. I have been to the Dragon every year since 2007 with the exception of 1 or 2 years and am very much looking forward to several trips come spring and summer with her. I have been so busy coaxing Sally Jo into letting me spin her wheels that I have yet to take any cool pictures. Pictures I have, but not cool pictures. The first thing that I think I am going to have to do is figure out if there is heftier suspension I can put under her. My son is quite large and while he is only in it a 10th of the time, I notice that she does handle a tad different when he is in it. I am going to make sure that MAGS looks at my alignment when I'm in for an oil change, and hopefully I will learn lots about this little beast here. Looking forward to it! Zee.
Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community. I was in Gahanna on Sunday, drove right through downtown.
Welcome to MA. We have a very active group of MINI owners in Columbus and on here. Check us out in the club forums....Mid-Ohio Motoring. We meet for breakfast every third Saturday at Tim Hortons in New Albany.
Did you blink and miss it? Thanks CHKMini...I might try to make it, I may be out of town for the next one. Do a lot of cars show up? We had a BMW motorcycle breakfast when I lived in Phoenix and tons of people would show up.
We have a good turnout every month, some months larger than others. Eat some donuts, drink some coffee, eat more donuts, talk cars, eat more donuts, look at cars, eat more donuts.....well, you get the picture!
Hi Zee. I also ride bikes as well, and LOVE the Dragon and surrounding roads. I assume you are familiar with MOTD(Minis On The Dragon)? Every year in April/May. In fact, registration starts tomorrow(Jan 3) to start signing up for the various driving activities. We have a bike trailer, so we can take the bikes and the CM JCW down with us...if you don't have a trailer, you could look at renting one to have your bikes and R60 on the Dragon during the same trip! This will be our first year for MOTD, and we can't wait to pal around with 600 or so Minis!
Actually I am familiar with the MOTD. Love Killboys pics of them...So how does the coop do with pulling a trailer? My bike is only 350 lbs wet and my truck hated my bike in the back. I read something on here the other day that has lead me to believe that Fontana is booked for the MOTD so if that is the case then I will probably roll down on Saturday then head over to Knoxsville to stay before heading back on Sunday. I do plan on spending the week down there in June for the SVR Rally, but honestly as much as I love my motorcycle I think I am going to take in the pleasures of Sally Jo and just take her. And maybe just just wear my helmet and gloves when I pulling up the rear of the SV's. Having been going down there for so long now for the week in June, it's more the company than the bike anyway.
Fontana is almost always booked up a year in advance for MOTD. However, one can get on the wait list there as well as pay attention to the http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/minis-dragon-12-april-30-may-4-2014-tn-nc/19695-lodging-need-have.html#axzz2pLSAKrVT thread to possibly get a room/cabin. There are also some closer in places than Knoxville that still have openings. MOTD is more about the company too. It's a great event with what will become a few hundred new friends.
MOTD is Woodstock for MINI's. It's a fun event for sure. If you keep an eye on the thread Nathan linked you are sure to find a room. If you see one jump on it. The Ford Focus ST is a wonderful car. I have a couple of good friends who have them. It is on my short list as a MINI replacement. I'm a car guy & like many different cars.
I will do that! And yes I agree...it is a wonderful car...Just not my dream car  yeah...of all the cars out there the Mini is my dream car..
I've always had a short list of fun cars that I'd enjoy. Ferrari 250 GTO is at the top. :drool Love my R53 MINI. :biggrin5:
