I currently own an 08 MCS. It is missing a few features that I want for the long term, so I am selling to a friend and buying another Mini. Here is where I need help.

I want a JCW, but is it worth it? I'm not worried about the warranty. I am buying used, 2006-2009. I have read all over the forum on the topic but can't get an overall clear answer. I understand personal opinion is in play and that's why I'd like to hear from you.

Is it better to buy a factory JCW or to buy another MCS and just upgrade it myself from another after market tuner besides JCW? My main goal is HP increase and better suspension. Can I get more HP than JCW elsewhere for less money? Anybody think a full brake upgrade is necessary?

I don't do much of my car work myself and don't really get bogged down in the technical specs. I just want as much HP as possible so that when I floor it in 2nd going 35 mph I have a big smile on my face :biggrin5:

One more thing. What is your opinion of the automatics with paddle shifters? I tend to only drive manual, but is this a worthy replacement?

    Thanks for your help!!!!

For me, absolutely. I had no interest in adding things myself and hoping that it all worked together. It was more expensive but I love it.

    For me, yes.

certainly, so if that's your top priority a JCW is probably not for you.

probably not, unless you plan on tracking it, but I'm glad I have the JCW brakes. Although I spend more time worrying about those behind being able to stop far more than I worry about myself.

This is the best part for me. In addition to being able to zip through the corners at the same time

Not for me - I love the row the gears
