Like two years ago the Earth is moving, there has been another rock slide on I-40, hopefully it won't take as long as the last did to clean up. For those of you planning on using I-40 you may want to plug in alternate routes, just in case.. The rock slide occurred at mile marker 450 near the North Carolina line. TDOT worker Steve Borden said two boulders fell, one the size of a car and another the size of a small house and the department will need to remove an overhang and wedge before reopening the road. TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi said the agency is hoping to have all of the damage cleared by February 14, though they can't say for certain how long it will take. Nagi pointed out the damage was not as bad as a similar rock slide in 2009 and TDOT isn't expecting the clean up to cost as much. TDOT will hold an emergency phone conference at noon on Tuesday to decide what direction the agency will take. One factor that will need to be considered is whether to use state or federal money. Until then, westbound drivers seeking an alternate route are advised to take I-240 West (Exit 53B) in Asheville to I-26 West (Exit 4A) to I-81 South (Exit 8A) back to I-40 West. The detour route is approximately 53 miles. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah but, Jim...... You'll be in the way of all the JCW's stacked up behind you..... HaHa, I couldn't resist......
oh no Chuck, you have just recreated the tile of this thread as soon a Jim responds.....Here We Go Again :biggrin5:
That will work. On a serious note, about all this water pump and fire stuff. Does anyone think that this may cut down on the number of folks who will actually show up at MOTD? It will take a long time for the re-call to get done. Jim
I would hope not. Remember there were only about 5 or 6 reports of actual fires over close to 350,000 cars worldwide. Percentage wise that's pretty darn low.
