My favorite brake guy! I'm still running that pseudo-prototype Wilwood set on my Cooper and couldn't be happier! Welcome to MA Todd.

Not as well as I'd hoped. The new 3.5L motor has waay more tq then the 3.2 did. Major wheel spin combined with a very slippery road netted a third in class and fourth overall. Struggled all weekend to get the car hooked up.

On the positive side I ran a ton of wing (front and rear) and still managed to pull 3mph faster speed than the class winner down the straight. His car is very trimmed out so that tells me we really do have the speed and tq to keep in pulling that was not there before.

Pulled the shocks off when I got home last week and sent them out for some valve work. Choosing to keep the same 175lb springs I'm going to soften the compression and stiffen the rebound in the shock. This should allow the rear to plant sooner and hold down longer. Forcing more weight on the rear tires should help. I can still bump the comp up some if needed via the nitrogen reservoirs if I want more.

Top open wheel car was running sub 5psi rear tire pressure! I was around 7 and think too low makes too much wallowing on the wheel. And with bead locks on only one side could dismount a tire.

    Among others...

    Pikes Peak Hill Climb records

2007: The Mini Sprint record was broken by Todd Cook. He ran 11:37.62 in his 2000 Wells TCE Coyote despite a spin on the way up, bettering his own record set in 2005.

Todd Cook, driver of the #4 Mini Sprint entry, rounds the corner at Mile Marker 11. Cook would finish and take the win on a shortened course due to inclement weather with a time of 08:43.290. This photo was taken on July 1, 2006 by Godfrey Brooke for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

I looked at the picture and thought "Coyote" before reading the text. Wouldn't have thought I would know one just by looking.

    Todd,
Is that the old LH Chrysler body engines that were run in the late 90's early 2000's??

Nope. Offset ground crank set up in a 3.2L SHO (Yamaha) motor for more stroke.

Next stop on the Hill Climb season is Buena Vista CO. (same weekend as MITM's I believe. Then the third race is in Grand Junction later in August.
