so the new V6 has over 300 HP and 3.7 liters. There was a promo at Bristol, and one was driven 776.5 miles on a single tank of gas. They averaged 48.5 MPG in 17.5 hours of driving....

Drat, I went from a V6 Mustang to my Cooper and that is what I get highway. I never thought they would be able to do that. Hummmmmmm. :nonod:

    Well....

they kind of gamed the system for the test. They had Bristol all to themselves to run the car at a constant speed of 30 or so MPH. But still, I'd never think that there was any way to get over 750 miles from a single tank in that car!

The V6 you had was an automotive dinosaur. The new engine is pretty sweet. While the 412 HP in the new V8 is tempting, over 300 from a 3.7L V6 is pretty sweet too, and the car has better balance. When there are aftermarket turbos for it, it could be a sleeper that really screams!

Yeah, the new v6 Mustang is something, and something thats very tempting. The chassis is pretty rock solid too in terms of handling. Ford seems to have awoken...

Ford has a strong footing in Europe making cars that get good mpg and performance. I saw a lot of them on several tours to Germany. I have a high school buddy who reiently retired from the upper management part of Ford and I asked him why these designs never made it to the U.S. He said to just wait and watch.
