I saw on the Graham County Travel site under the Upgcoming Events, a "Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb" for May 5 and 6. It doesn't specify what year, so I wasn't sure if they meant this year. Their event page hasn't been updated for 2012 yet. Will this overlap this years MOTD? Graham Travel & Tourism
Here is more info... Dragon Hill Climb Course Map General Course Map | Dragon Hill Climb I know the map image below has last years dates. This year (2012) it is May 5-6.
Hill Climb I know some of the cone benders think hill climbs are crazy but they are a lot of fun. The seat time is much better than an auto-x. The downside is our cones are trees, armco and large rocks. If you get time, you should definitely see this event. I know you will definitely enjoy it. I have not driven this particular hill (yet) but I do participate in the Pa Hill Climb series (Pennsyvlania Hillclimb Association | Pennsyvlania Hillclimb Association). This is my hill ride:
Does anyone know if the hill climb course is a public road? Can we drive it when we are at the Dragon?
The Hill Climb is on the 5th and 6th, which is the Saturday and Sunday of the MOTD. I've put a call into orgainizer to get more information in case folks want to be spectators or even participants.
From reading the link, you will need a SCCA competition license plus roll bar, etc... Please let us know what they say?!!
You can get a weekend SCCA membership but all necessary safety equipment is required. Roll bar or cage depending on class, SA2010 helmet, nomex suit & socks, gloves and leather shoes. You also need either a window net or arm restraints. The rules for this event should be SCCA Level 4 Time Trial and can be found on the SCCA site. The hosting region might also have some supps that should be on the event web site.
guess they realized we were in town that weekend and they decided to move the event to June so they could find lodging.
