UPDATE: More than £30m of Jaguars, Land Rovers and Minis on Hoegh Osaka (From Daily Echo) Aha, just read this...... Sixty five BMW Minis, worth about £1.3m and destined for the Middle East, were also on board the vessel when it ran aground.
Ingar Skiaker, chief executive of Hoegh Autoliners, told a press conference: “The vessel developed a severe list shortly after leaving port and the master and pilot made the decision to save the vessel and its crew by grounding it on the bank. They showed great skill and seamanship on behalf of our crew when faced with such challenging circumstances.”
All the vehicles were in neutral and non of the handbrakes were set... Boat developed a list after making the first turn.... Oups....
I've worked on those ships. The cars are strapped down securely. As long as there is no water in the cargo area, The cars should be all right. Dave
The good news is only 72 F56's were lost. The bad news is there was room for another dozen on the ship.
Rumor has it the front end imbalance of the F56's on board caused this. I figure the local fish are mating with the fish mouth F56. :ihih:
