Man it has been a rough week. I am certain that I got jinxed or something on the 31st. First of all in our area of the country we had some good heavy rain which caused our basement to flood. Unfortunately, we didn't check the basement as we have never had a problem. So it went unnoticed until Sunday night. Monday was spent discussing with the insurance company that I actually do have water and sewer backup coverage. Tuesday the cleanup crew came and removed the carpet, laminate floor, and made a 24 inch cut to remove the drywall and insulation which had begun to mold. Wednesday brought more rain and we came home to find our skylight leaking. Really, not kidding here. Thursday Kathy drove her new truck to work for the first time and picked up a nail and got a flat tire. Luckily for us the dealer includes a year of tire repair and replacement even with used vehicles so they took care of it. Here is a picture of her new horse mobile. After this week I feel a little like these guys. [ame="http://youtu.be/zvU4CC6s2e4"]http://youtu.be/zvU4CC6s2e4[/ame]
I had one of those weeks back in September! Ended up doing the entire water mitigation job myself... All the restoration companies where 72 hours to three weeks from being able to get to us! Got it dried out, and contractors came in to put it all back. On the bright side, its way better now than it was before.
Looks great. Yea this sucks. Luckily we were able to get help. Never expected this to happen as we sit on the high point of the land, have no sump, and have a french drain around the house that pipes all the water downhill to our creek some 300 feet away. When we moved in the builder said that if we ever flooded we should "look for Noah, cause the Ark will be coming by. ". Working on getting excavator to determine where the blockage is located.
