A Question for my fellow NC MINI owners I've recently relocated from Alabama to a new job in North Carolina and all the ruckus associated, I haven't had time to get very involved with the forums (other than lurking in the background). But right now I need a little help with a problem. While on my way to work Thanksgiving night, I was involved in an accident at the intersection on Highway 43 and Ivy road (Cox crossroads) just south of Greenville NC. A lady (using the word loosely) ran the stop sign and impacted my R56 right behind the driver's door. She was driving a land barge (Old Chevy Impala) just below the speed of sound so the damage was very extensive. Rear axle broken, driver's rear quarter panel torn into, wheels folded over, air bags deployed, etc. Spun me around in the road but the "Bulldog Stance" kept me from flipping over. At any rate, since she was totally at fault, I can choose where I have repairs made. So this is my question. Where is the best body shop in the Greenville North Carolina area to repair a close to totaled MINI? And, since I have an extended warranty and free maintenance until 100,000 miles, is this going to affect my warranty and maintance plan? Thanks for your advice in advance!
Glad you are OK, wow what a hit! If it was my car I'd sure push for it to be totaled too. From your description it probably is. Make sure you are paid for the remaining warranty you bought. Good luck woodtw.
Kenny Hawkins in Raleigh is one of the best in the Triangle, prob about an hour east of you. But you're probably going to want to take it to the dealer in Raleigh or W-S. That car sounds like it's totaled. =(
We recently repaired another HR MINI member's R53 with close to $5K worth of damage including rear crossmember, all the right rear suspension and some of the left rear as well as the left door and quarter. She was hit in the left side and driven into a curb on the right. Since they carry a pretty good value, they don't total easily. However, the airbag deployment will help that. Good luck, keep us updated.
