Mrs. Moreorless asked what I would like for my up-coming birthday.

    I'm thinking perhaps a M7 Extreme Scoop.

For those of you that have one or have had one or know of someone that had/has one, what has been your/their experience with fitment, quality and durability?

And do you have any pictures of your/their car with the scoop?

    Thanks,

    Les

Considered the Voltage? I think it's a better looking scoop... I like the way it matches the contours of the MINI better...

Used to run it on the Mini back when. I think it "performs" quite well. Looks are up to you, and really only you. I liked the look myself.

    Thanks.....

It appears to be similiar to the M7 Vortex 1 only without those silly "vortex generators".

Good looking scoop. Any experience with them?

I've been running one for almost 2 years. Good scoop, good fitment. I did something stupid to mine and need to do some work on it - but not the scoop's fault.

In my opinion, it looks like it "belongs" on the MINI, unlike some scoops out there.

I had one on my car for a while...

I actually can't remember why I went back to stock... Anyway, the scoop works. Mine needed some work on the holes in the hood to mount. But whatever floats your boat!

TonyB and I did some testing on it, and it got more air through the IC. Don at DMH Motorsports found that while scoops got more air through the IC, his lap times didn't change cause of increased drag. But that's track dependent...

anyway, it's a decent product, and the looks of the scoops are very subjective. I had one in gloss black on my Chilli Red hood, and it looked good!

I have the M7 Vortex with those "silly" :D vortex generators. Had to dremel to fit the scoop, tried without the first time (which it should have fit) and loosened two of the studs(bolts). M7 was great to deal with, they took it back, repaired it and even repainted it for me. I like the less protruding top over the Extreme Scoop.

    Pictures in gallery.

    Cheers
    Mr. Jim

    Oops......not intended to offend.

I associate those type of protrusions (ie, "vortex generators") with stiffening needs. Meaning the expanse was too flexible and required something to provide strength and stiffness.

Yours looks good in black. The image on the M7 site is in gray and to me it just looks hokey. And then talk about vortex generators and my eyes start to glaze over and this image of a marketing director passes before me and, well, then, they've lost me.

However, the Voltage looks similiar and doesn't have those sill..... I mean those......things.

But the Vortex 1 does look good in black. Sorta hides those "things".

I have seen both scoops in person and really like the Voltage product a lot more than the M7 one. The Voltage really looks like it belongs whereas the M7 looks aftermarket.

Exactly! It just looks like it belongs on the car and easily could have been OEM....;)
