The approach of the big 100K moment has me perplexed. Should I commit to the dealer for a complete check up? If so how much is that going to set me back? OR should I just keep going until I feel its necessary? My "06 Cooper S is running nice with after market brakes, shocks, exhaust etc. A little heavy on the fuel. But so are my lead boots. I need new tires this winter. Last winter in Toronto I had a couple of icy dicey moments on the Conti extremes. I'm looking at Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3. Good idea? or No? Can ya help a fella out?
I'd find a good independent shop. Have them take a look. Has the transmission fluid ever been changed? It's not really lifetime. Moved the thread to the 100,000K + area.
Of course winter tires are what you need. At least make sure they are all season. From what I have heard & read the Conti DWS tires are supposed to be good. Maybe a bit less expensive than Michelin's. I'll add to the transmission fluid change a coolant system flush & change on a 2006 you are past due.
Yes I'm in Toronto. I hate walking in off the street. I need recommendations. Not comfortable with online reviews. I'll leave my kid with strangers but not my dog or my car.
