Anybody out there have a 2005 MCSa, our local Chevy dealer has taken one in on trade, Laser Blue auto, with nav and just about everything else. The kicker is it only has 22,000 miles on it. belonged to elderly couple that used for a second car, hence the mileage. My question is the tranny, any problems with 05 autos, I know there were issues with earlier years but haven't heard much about 05 and up. Any help would be appreciated..
The early CVT trannies they put in the justa's had issues, stay away from them. But a 05 S, with 22k on it from your neck of the woods is worth looking into imo. Should have paddle shifters, they are fun. Local dealer can likely get brow beaten with any knowledge you come in with:ihih::lol: Hey, you going to MITM? Mark
Didn't they move to the Aisin TF-60SN 6sp auto box in 2005? It's a common transmission, Ford, Mazda, VW and Volvo all use a variant of the same basic tranny.
The '05 and '06 MCSa transmissions are NOT CVTs, and are, in fact, the Aisin. The one in my '06 MCSa has been rock-solid for me...to, at and home from the Dragon, for everyday use, and for occasional track days [2-3 a year since '06].
Thanks for the input, I knew the CVT's were problems but didn't know beyond that. Mark, no we wont be able to make Colorado this year, too many things going on this month...., will be there next year. I can get that MCSa for 14K ( i know what they have in it ). May be a pretty good move from my 02 Justa, that thing doesn't have a scratch on it...
If I'm not mistaken, there never was a CVT in a S, only the justa. For the right price, that could be a keeper. Mark
