Hey figured i should introduce myself to the Mid-Ohio area. Hello, my name is Jake, I live in Westerville, so essentially smack dab in the middle of Ohio. I just got my first MINI cooper. Its an R50, 2002 MINI cooper with 130k miles on it. (yes i know its a lot of miles but i got it used. and im poor as i start college this month). Im rly hoping to get involved with the community to fuel my MINI addiction that has been ablazed since I saw the Italian Job. The car seems in solid shape, had no troubles driving it back to Ohio from Indiana (point of purchase). To my knowledge it just needs a new muffler. and thats not even terribly urgent, which is good cause i spent everything on the car and classes. Im currently brainstorming on Vanity plate ideas. Currently im thinking of a variation of Living Large or Super Size. Something along those lines. (any ideas accepted) So yah thats me and where im at in my MINI carreer, life, and obbsession.
Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the addiction! We will be at Tim Hortons in New Albany on the 18th for our monthly donut addiction. Come on by and show off the new ride. There is a thread in here somewhere with the details including a drive after.
Welcome. Stop by on the 18th and if you have a few hours free that day you can go on the Dark Helmet Brewery Tour with us.
Welcome to M/A Glad you watched the Italian Job & not the Fast N Furious. You could be rocking an Eclipse with a Pep Boys wing instead of a sweet MINI. Looking forward to seeing your new R50 at the donut munch. The Ohio tag JUSTA is available. :ihih:
Bradley, Polaris eh? I basically live on the corner of State and Maxtown. Crashton, Its been a while since i have watched the italian job but i think im missing the JUSTA reference. Assuming its even italian job. Ill prolly be able to make it out for the donuts. And maybe part of the drive but im not 21, and personally not for drinking so ill have to pass on the brewery. Ill just have to make sure i get the fuzzy dice and an 8 ball shifter before tomorow
JUSTA is code language for "just a Cooper" Welcome to the group now sho us some pictures or at least give us the colors of your car!!!
Ill keep the JUSTA tag in mind. I plan on going in on monday to get it all registered and jazz. Why wait till the deadline of the 31 right? (unless we know when the new ohio plates are coming out, as much as i want a scenic farm shot on my car. :frown2 On that note the web dev for the Ohio BMV site should be hurt. it is soo complicated to figure out if a plate is available. For one he gives u more slots then likely available (i thought it was 7 of any letters and or numbers but i guess not). and on top of that the explanation they give is over worded, as most govermental forms are. also....Boom.
Also, based on the fact that gear shift knob pulls off on MINIs, do i have to get knobs specific to MINIs?
Nice looking MINI Snack. Pick up a Whalen Shift Machine. Best shift knob out there & he's an M/A sponsor.
Thanks Crash, I love it soo far, especially the wheels. I havent seen too many others running around with 'em. (bugger to keep clean tho. not looking forward to snow and salt.) As for the shift knob, sadly, as much as I'd love to support someone involved in the community. Whalen's is a bit outside of a 19 yr old's price range. especially right after the purchase of the car he wants it for! lol. That'll just have to be added to the possible self-christmas gifts I get this year XD in between the new exhuast and a reupholstered drivers seat.
In my opinion holies are one of the nicest wheels offered by MINI. In fact MINI has started making them available again on the 2012 Justa's. A set of ceramic pads will help keep the dust down, but white wheels are tough to keep clean. Keep an eye out for used MINI parts. They are plentiful & often a very good deal.
