Hey guys. Ive had a Mini cooper 1.6 2005 in black for over a year now. I love how it drives, its economic and yet still sporty. When i came to owning the car i thought i would come to like the look of it, but so far i've only come to 'live' with it. Any ideas how i can perhaps make it a bit more masculine? I went to a car show room the other day and found many cars that I prefer the look of, but simply don't come close to how fantastic the mini feels to drive. Thanks
Welcome to the Alliance. There are many things you can do to change the look of your MINI. Not sure what you mean about making it more masculine. Jim
Welcome to Motoring Alliance, thanks for joining. Might want to post a few photos and we can give you some ideas.
This is a picture of the '04 Black MCS that I once owned. I like the Murdered-Out look. Post up some pics and you'll find no shortage of opinions from here on MA!
Nice! how much did all that cost you? I've never modded a car at all, did you buy a whole new front hood?
If you want to make your car look more masculine you could always hang a set of those truck nuts off the back. :lol::lol::lol::lol: Amazon.com: truck balls nuts
Wheels and tires can make a different look. Window tint changes the look a lot. I know that there a few people here who can show you a ton of different rims that they have had on their MINI's. Just keep in your mind that MINI's were born from race cars, now that is pretty manly! Keep it MINI
Welcome aboard. Just look around this site and it's gallery of photo's and you'll see plenty of very cool looking MINIs from all over..
:cornut: Welcome to MA. This is definitely the place to get ideas on changing you MINI's appearance. Jason
Is it good looking? Yes, though beauty is in the mind of the beholder. A bit of a make-over can improve (or at least change) the way you ... erm ... behold it. Personally I think most MINIs need a bit of a cute-ectomy. Will that make it look more masculine? I suppose, though I don't think that's the way I looked at it when making minor exterior adjustments to my '02. I'm in the anti-chrome minority and I think the way you choose to delete some of the chrome -- how you hide it and/or what you replace it with -- can go a long way toward lowering the cuteness quotient.
:cornut: With me the whole idea is what's going through other driver's minds. "How can that darned little cute car that was behind me and is now in front of me, maneuver and accelerate so rapidly? Cute cars aren't supposed to be able to do that." I just drive away smiling. Jason
Not as much as an automagic translation.... :ihih: Sorry, but as an chrome admirer I had to shoot back. rrr:
Thanks for all the replies guys. I looked into converting a mini cooper into a mini cooper s and its fairly straight forward swaps, but it will definitely take some time and money. I think your right about the bonnet lowering the cuteness factor by adding an scoop on the top. If i bought a cooper s bonnet, do you think it would fit? after all, they are pretty much identical cars underneath. I definitely agree with the removing the chrome, if I can replace that chrome grill with a black one it would look so much better! The only other differences between the cooper and the cooper s, is the twin exhaust (easy to bolt on), a supercharger (probably not so easy) and a wheel change to a larger dia with sports tyres. Probably a new air filter would do nicely too.
