My boyfriend and I always point out any passing Mini. Of course, it's easy to tell if it's a justa or an S. A little harder to tell first gen from second. After that though, are there any tell tale things for the MINI sportter to know the year a car was produced? I know there are certain colors that were only produced for a year or so. What other little clues will tip you off to the what year a MINI was built?
There are plenty of identifiers that can tell what generation a mini is. If the front grill is one piece its an R56 two piece an R53. the tail lights can determine if the MINI is an 02-04 or an 05-06 the 02-04 has amber in the tail light (unless they put the aftermarket euros in which are clear) as for colors I think all R53 generations share the same colors. Just little things I notice when I pass other MINI's I'm sure others will have better identifiers then what I have mentioned
My R50 has a split front grill In 04 the backup light moved from the center of the rear bumper skirt to the tail lights. Mark
I actually look for the number of lights. 1st gen 6 lights and 2nd 4 lights headlight, parking / turn and fog or headlight/turn and fog.
lol my MINI isn't a JCW and it will blow by you at high speeds.... I think thats just a modded S thing
wasn't saying blow by you more adding to what you said lol. looking at it now I could have worded it better.
I'll have you know that I blew by a pick up yesterday and made him think he was standing still as I left him in my dust. Of course he was only doing 40, but the effect was the same. Jim
Spotters Guides to MINI's are almost useless being all the changes that people do to youify their cars.
