My 2003 MINI Cooper's a/c stopped working last year - on the hottest day of the year - of course! Purchased a gauge and tested it. It was fine. Ended up disconnecting the battery for about 10-15 minutes and it was fine until now! This time the disconnecting of the battery trick did not work!. Compressor is not running. Also my "Service Engine Soon" light is on. I do not know if it is related or something else.... Any suggestions? Help!! "Lil Bit" and I want to be cool again...........................
Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance, the FUN and Friendly MINI Community. Have you been able to read the codes? That would be the first step in trying to determine the issue. Autozone stores will read them for you.
We'll need some help in the diagnosis if you want in put. Try this: - Read the codes (Autozone, free, or get a code reader for under $40 someplace) - Check fuses, esp. a/c compressor clutch - Pressure readings? - Does the cooling fan go on when you engage the a/c? - Is there perhaps some juicy sticky drink spilt on your a/c controls preventing the buttons from being pushed? Additional information...
also, is this an automatic climate control system or manual? When you say you purchased a gauge and checked it, what exactly did you check?
