im a recently retired Army guy. My wife is looking for a Navy camo uniform for an art project she is doing (kristinlaflamme dot com). Any fellow vets out there able to hook me up with a old set they have hidden down in one of their kit bags? Something we can hand over at the Dragon? Much thanks, Art
It'd be sweet. I've been able to help her secure most of the other stuff she needs, but the Navy camo has been elusive. And if you check out her website, she is all about the fabrics. She makes cray-cray stuff.
This old Navy guy couldn't help but notice the thread but will refrain from commenting upon what the modern world has done to tradition. Nathan would more than likely not understand but he'd have no choice but to lock me up in the brig for my language. However, good luck in your quest, my co-pilot quilts as well.
Seemed like an ideal opportunity. Hell, it seems like just about every trade and exchange happens at Fontana during Dragon week, by who a couple of vets hooking a quilter up with an old uniform that is only collecting dut, right? Shoot, for that matter, we should all break out the old ones and actual burn them in a bonfire, like we've always threatened to do!
to old for "navy camo" lol (what a term :crazy now if I'd seen this a week or so ago I would've got you some SeaBee camo from my son...(I'll look and see if he left anything in his room...)
I know from tradition and have seen the way it is torn asunder in the modern world. Not Navy traditions...yet plenty from my youth. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRdfX7ut8gw"]Fiddler on the roof - Tradition ( with subtitles ) - YouTube[/ame]
just as a FYI. There is rather large surplus store about 1hr 15min, from Fontana call Jarhead Surplus
Thanks. If all else fails, I think she is going to get something from either eBay or drive / have me drive to Virginia Beach. But so far we've done well vet-to-vet rounding up the bits and pieces she needs. I'm kinda hoping the Mini community pulls thou on this one!
If it does, a little representation of the MINI wings badge hidden somewhere in the cammo would be a nice touch.
No problem, I was going over there anyhow to see the new turbo he got for his Mazda. E6's These days... Cant keep a perfectly faded uniform in a box, but will stuff a $3000 turbo into a MAZDASPEED 6, I dont get it.
Just 1 set! She has a project she is working on, and is in need of just a single set - preferably blouse and pants, but she'd be willing to take whatever she can get!
