When MINI released the first GPm any part associated with it could only be bought if you had an actual GP VIN. It was assumed this would be the case with new GP as well, but surprisingly, longtime reader Karl Muller did some digging and was able to order perhaps one of the more interesting [...]

Got me excited for a second when I read that "it should be compatible with any R5X MINI model". Hghly doubtful it would fit the 1st Gen?

To fit the 1st gen, you'd need a different exhaust than the stock or JCW to fit the R56 diffuser. Even then not sure it could be done, but a straight through exhaust might work.

But without that split in the pipes, on a modified R53 MINI (BVH and street header), it's just too loud for me. Tried it specifically because I wanted to put the group4 rear diffuser on, but I couldn't handle the drone and loudness.

You could probably make something custom with magnaflow and/or hushpower and one of those corkscrew mufflers that would work.

It's been a pretty poorly kept secret!

I'm too lazy to put that much work into it and according to some, too slow to really need it. :D

I have a very early all SS G4 "prototype" straight through exhaust hanging in my garage. It is nice, it adds power, it's sounds great but damn is it loud for everyday driving.
Example: My wife knows when I am within 3 miles of the house and calls me to tell me to SLOW DOWN!:lol::lol::lol::Thumbsup:
