My R53 had a clunking noise coming from the front right. When I took the strut off I found that the spring seat had unscrewed from the bottom of the strut. It appears to be working.
Has anyone els ever seen this? I am trying to decid if I should replace it. If I do I will do both sides.

Hey Lee, maybe you could clean things up & use some loctite 620 stud & bearing mount to hold it in place. Better living through chemistry. Worth a try & a whole lot less expensive that Colin's coils. But if you are flush with cash I understand they are the way to go.

I love Colin’s coilovers. That’s what Mark put on the Helmet. No coilovers for the R53. I called Koni to see what they thought. The guy I talked to said if it kale unscrewed it would lose its gas charge. So I guess I am stuck replacing it. I think it’s probably best to do it in pairs. Not trying to be cheep but it needs new tires and I planed to get some better rims at the same time. This eats into that budget.

Shouldn’t that be under the lifetime Koni warranty?

Yes but only for the person that bought them. I ran into this with the rears. I bought the car when it was 2 years old, the previous owner put them on. When I called Koni they said I had to be the one that bought them.

The rears weren't Kong's fault. The moron that installed them welded on the shaft of one.
