Lime Rock is next. We race at 10:30 on Saturday. There will be NO TV coverage for this event. Driver lineup: 195 Dicky Riegel and Matt Plumb (RumBum #13 driver in GS) 196 Ron Farmer and Jason Hart 197 Randall Smalley and Chris Puskar 198 Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler This a powerful lineup and should make for exciting racing. The 198 is now a solid second in points only 3 behind the APR VW 171. Lime Rock is an old school fast track and very Mini friendly. Lap times will probably be around one minute. Hope to see you there! Randy
RSR's Lime Rock results (the Conti race won't be broadcast so I'm not worried about spoiling anything): 3rd 195 Dicky Riegel and Matt Plumb (RumBum #13 driver in GS) 15th -- 196 Ron Farmer and Jason Hart 24th -- 197 Randall Smalley and Chris Puskar 26th -- 198 Sarah Cattaneo and Owen Trinkler The 197 and 198 finished 6 and 12 laps respectively off the ST lead so I'm sure Lady Luck decided to smack them around a bit but I don't know details.
Actually ... 2nd, 15th, 24th and 26th. Owen (198) was crashed out WHILE LEADING THE RACE with about 12 laps to go. :incazzato:
Don't know how I did that but for a change I'm happy I was wrong! Sure wish this one was going to be broadcast...
Don't know what race any of you were watching. Carbonell tried to pass Trinkler on his left side and Trinkler blocked him, pushing him into the wall. I saw as they pulled Carbonell out the car and he did not even look alive. His legs looked like jello. So no, Carbonell did not get "caught under the mini's car," Owen was blocking Carbonell when he swerved left and TOOK ANDREW OUT. Owen was bound to do this though and I am not surprised a bit. Carbonell was also hospitalized and later released but believe you me, there are going to be some turned up noses and thin ice by upset fans AND Carbonell's team at Continental this weekend. Maybe you guys should watch a video every once in a while and get your facts straight.
Is there video someplace? Speed did not broadcast the race nor is it on the schedule to be broadcast. I did watch Monday's race and there was no mention of any of the other races at Lime Rock that weekend. We may have to wait till the next Speed broadcast of the series to learn more.
Video can be seen on this post. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/racing-mini-s/8244-lime-rock-results.html#post81301
Lime Rock " BB623 " as in Mazda 623??? I wonder if BB's comments are objective?? ------------------------- Our in car video shows NO movement by Owen. The buffeting of two cars side by side at +125mph is obvious, BUT there was no lateral movement by the Mini. The simple fact is . . . Owen was in front. It's the Mazda's duty to effect a safe pass. There is no rule against blocking, even though He wasn't. It was unfortunate for all concerned. Kudos to Andrew and Owen at Watkins Glen. They diced for awhile and BOTH drove a clean race. No retribution by either party. They are both real pros and it showed. The teams aren't complaining . . . maybe the outsiders should follow their lead. Time to move on . . . Randy
