:cornut: NICE car and a TON of upgrades put into it. That could only have been accomplished in a FREE Czech Republic by a wage earning citizen(not a Comrad) post 1991. I'm so happy that all of Eastern Europe is free of the Commies today but, how did all the Commies turn up in our White House/Congress/Supreme Court? Go figure!

The Lane Motor Museum in Nashville has a number of Tatras in their collection, once a year they take 20 of their cars out of the museum and let regular folks drive them on a 100+ mile rally - last Sept I joined them and my car of choice was a 1958 Tatra 603!

Thanks Chuck! I took a happy journey this morning. Cool video, driving a Tatra stupid fast & playing with the police, how cool is that!

The one at the Lane is the only one I have seen. Just 1 when I was there, but he keep adding more wonderful & unique vehicles to his collection. for those who haven't been there, stop in for a fun time.

Here is the end of the happy journey....

I do not remember if Dr. Porsche worked for Tatra, or if he was just influenced by Tatra designs. But this is where the rear engine air cooling came from.

Ferdinand Porsche, not usually given to acts of modesty, said of Hans Ledwinka, the boss of Tatra: "Well sometimes I looked over his shoulder and sometimes he looked over mine". So who thought of what is open to question.

However it's unlikely the Volkswagen would have existed had Ledwinka not pioneered some of the ideas. Don't forget to add independent suspension hanging off a central torque tube chassis and horizontally-opposed cylinders to the list of ideas.
