While here in North TX it's hard to get the holiday spirit going for this transplanted denizen of the Middle Atlantic area as the grass is still green, the trees still have leaves and shorts are still the daily uniform it dawned upon that something was afoot when the grocery store has Christmas displays. I know what you mean. Was chatting w/ my folks the other day and when they asked if I was coming back (1500 miles) for turkey day it took me a few seconds to figure out why they were asking "already, so early in the season." Suddenly I realized why I'd seen a big freezer bin full of turkeys last time I was shopping groceries. Of course I don't have the same lack of environmental clue excuses you have...had to cop the clueless plea. The worst part was since I didn't realize the date was fast approaching I hadn't spent any time preparing a good excuse for why I'm not coming home...had to do some quick thinking! I like the header, esp. the goofy pilgrim...seems appropriate...
