When engine oil is low (about 1/4 above lowest level) and one gives the mini a hard drive, is it possible for oil to be blown out of the pcv hose (one on the left)?

    Not typically....
Check the "O" ring that's inside the PCV coupling that connects to the valve cover.... They can start leaking if damaged....

    It's inside #1...

thanx, but if it is damaged as you say, then it should be leaking constantly not only on hard drives right?

Depends on the "O" ring damage.... Could be partially sealing until the pressure rises..... Almost like a small blow off valve.... and then all a once, oil starts shooting out...

Keep in mind..... it hard to diagnose a problem over the internet.... These are only suggestions as to where you should look.... You are in the best place to diagnose the problem....
