What are the maximum tyre specs that can be fit in the 17" CrownSpoke rims of a 2008 MiniCooperS?

Define maximum... maximum that won't rub? maximum that will stay on the rim? maximum that will still handle well and not look retarded?

    That wheel is a 17x7.

Many people run 215/45R17 with no issues, at stock height or slightly lowered.
I've run up to 225 width on 7" wheels with no issues, but that width WILL rub on most setups, without spacers, trimming wheel well trim, etc.

I run 215/45/17 on my MINI 17 X 7 Web Spoke wheels. I like the look, and they perform well, with no rubbing or unusual wear.

I would think that they would work just as well on the same size Crown Spoke wheel.
