I checked my milage after running around town and a few fast runs on a twisty road both uphill and down hill sections and a 120 mph. sprint. I was getting 37 M.P.G.!

Are you checking with the OBC or did you use a paper & pencil? The reason I ask is the OBC is optimistic on my MINI. I swing between 26mpg & 31mpg using a pencil. I'm happy with that considering the performance & smiles my MINI gives me. :D :D :D

Have to drive to the V.A. in Little Rock which is 106 miles one way and when I hit the interstate I will run up to 70MPH. and set the cruse and check how it does on the trip. The best I ever got from my '09 Scion xB was 35 mpg. so with the 6 speed on the MCS it should be even better than the 4 speed auto with overdrive in the old car, but it all is going to depend on traffic and if I have to buck a head wind.

    I get about 22...

Then again, much like the rest of me, my foot is heavy.

And I do so like to wind it out with the foot buried.

I had a appt: at the V.A. today and left at 11:30 and should have had plenty of time to be there by around 12:30. the appt: was at 13:00 and so when I hit the interstate which is around 40 miles from where I live, got up to 72mph. and set the cruse once in 6th. and was doing pretty good until I got about half way there and I ran into 10 miles of construction that crawled at about 50mph. so when I finaly cleared it I had to run between 80-90mph. to try and get to my appt. I got there at 13:08 and stopped to refill at the Air Base exit at Jacksonville about 25 miles from the hospital on the way back. I got to 80 miles before the needle moved off full and was just under full when I topped off at the station there. I had gone 117.5 miles and it took 3.6 gal. of gas to fill up on the way back so I was only able to manage 32.6 M.P.G. and had just dropped below full as I got home at 85 miles. So I'll have to run the tank down to when the light comes on the gas gauge to see if I can duplicate my previous mileage. And running 80-90 mph. in Little Rock is comparable to doing the same thing in Atlanta all things concidered.

I have to drive really gently to get 50mpgUS out of mine and I've only got dead on 40mpgUS average (by pump and calculator, not OBC) since I bought it, since I cruise too fast for it to be economical. And it only has 225 ft-lb of torque. :blush2:

    Yeah, it's an SD(iesel)

I did turn off a main road recently onto a little wiggly side road that asks for the car to be 'exercised' so I zeroed the OBC - over 15 miles I got 23mpg. Which just shows if you accelerate on the straights and brake for the bends, more engine just means you lose more energy on each bend, never mind how efficiently it accelerates.

^ Does your MINI have an oil burner engine aka diesel? If it does while your mileage is superb it really isn't the same as far as mileage goes. Apples & oranges. If it is a gas engine then holy cow what great mileage.

Yes, I agree - and yes, it is a 2.0L diesel. To be honest it isn't realistic to compare Yurpeen and Merkan fuel economy numbers - driving conditions are just so different. For example, my justa Cooper did 30.7mpgUS over my 50,000 mile ownership.
