What is a reasonable oil for a 2005 MCS with LSD. The Bentley Manual doesn't make a distinction between LSD and non LSD, but typically an LSD needs friction modifiers of some sort to work properly. For the record, the manual calls for Texaco MTF 94.

The closest dealer is over 100 miles away, and they are out of the gearbox oil (ya even get to bring your own milk jug to carry it home in). I'm planning on a run to Atlanta on Friday to get parts from Way and a few from the dealer. Way offers a few gearbox oil choices. Anybody have any experience with the Red Line oil in a Getrag with an OEM LSD?

use the Redline you will like it-been using it in my 05 lsd mcs since 07, and we put it in every 5 and 6 speed MINI that comes in for a change up.

Great news. Red Line MTL at $14 per liter is roughly a third of the $73.50 per half gallon from the dealer! And I don't even have to supply my own milk jug...

I'm not a cheapskate when it comes to maintaining the MINI, but Red Line makes top notch products, it's easier to get, and a LOT less expensive. Come to think of it, the Powerflex bushings are better and cheaper when the life expectancy is factored in. The math is even more compelling for those who pay a shop for installing them.
