MINI of Dallas (MoD) again opened their doors to the members of the MetroplexMINI club for yet another DIY Day. We've had a few of these before but this one was quite different. MoD has recently moved to a new location that offers a greater separation between the MINI and BMW side of things at the front end. The new massive service are is under on roof now with the MINI section walled off. MINI service grew from 14 to 20 service bays and this past Saturday we were allowed access to 14 bays for club members to work on their own MINIs.

The scope of work varied from oil changes and tire rotations to one member finding out he had water pump going south and changing that out.

Not only does MoD provide a generous amount of space the club but there are also MINI Techs on hand to help and guide us. They even let us borrow some of the more specialized tools that make working on a MINI less of a challenge. The new facilities are quite luxurious when compared with the previous shop. Very well lit, with lifts the come out of the ground, no more dinging doors on posts. Even the most lowered MINI's can easily access the lift without the need of additional wood blocks.

All the bays have easy access to air, water and oil from overhead, there are even drop lights on retractable lines making it so easy to place extra lighting right where it is needed.

All in all it was a very good day, lots of work was completed and everyone was quite happy, not a cross word was heard all day.

Thanks go to MoD Service Director John Witt, Parts Goddess Sheri Martin, Techs Tony, Gene, Ed and Tomas as well as the rest of the staff that allowed us to invade a working shop without complaint.

Wow, that is great dealer club support. :)

We have a club member who opens his shop up to our MINI5280 club, but it is a drive for us on the North side of Denver.

Still a good deal, when you want to change some stuff or just check out your MINI.

Thanks for sharing some great pictures.

We have a nice deal with the local dealer, but that is a great relationship.

It certainly is/was a great deal. The new location is fantastic ... it was nice to be able to get on my knees (to look and make sure that the arms of the lift were on the jack point, thank you very much!) and not come up with huge oil spots on my jeans. Plus, having parts (at a discounted club price) on-site makes things so much easier.

John Witt, head of the service department, goes out of his way to make these events top-notch, including providing food and making his techs available. I can't thank him and his his staff enough.
