Our own local Gran Am racing team, Mike Shank Racing has won the 50th Daytona 24. Car number 60 takes 1st & car number 6 takes 3rd. What a huge win. :biggrin5: Congrats to all the drivers & crew. Job well done guys!!! :beer
Yep great stuff and very well done!!! How about the entire podium being powered by American Iron?! The 2012 Rolex 24 "POWERED BY FORD!"
Sweet! Ford 1-2-3 way to go guys! :cornut: Oh and I'm watching the WTCC yesterday, the Chevy Cruze's are kicking butt over in Europe! Not a good week for racing across the pond :eek6:
Rolex and Continental series looks to be great this season. ......and oh so sad about Ganassi. :biggrin5:
Alas, all that were at the Rolex will not be competing in the full series. That said the new cars look great and the competition should be stiffer but, don't count out Mr Pruitt, tis a long season and save a broken part they would have been in the mix at the end... Me thinks Grand Am is developing a great product and it should be a very entertaining season indeed!!! PS: ....and my disappointment that VIR is not on the schedule, continues to mount.
Enjoy your "Winning" Rolexes guys you earned them. Somewhere there is a quote from the team owner something to the effect "I don't want to think about how many Rolexes I could have bought, but I really want to EARN one."
All Pruitt & Ganassi had was a third place car at best. Yep he broke the gearbox, but it really didn't cost him the win. His down on power BMW lump did. You are correct Mark don't count them out. It is a long season. I know who I'll be routing for.
The Ford's just out horsepowered the rest of the field on the high banks and then managed the infield. I was amazed to see how they could pull away from the BMW powered DP's. In one interview Scott mentioned something about the horsepwer difference just not being right.
I remember last year when Ganassi switched to the BMW lump. Everyone else was saying the same thing about the BMW lump. I wonder how the Ford V6 turbo will be. Might be interesting.
Let's not forget that until they had their problems, the #90 Corvette DP was also mixing it up at the front very well indeed!!
I'm happy to see so many teams capable of a win & running at the front. It makes for great racing. I really dislike when one team steamrolls the rest.
Are we going to try and get a MINI corral for the Mid-Ohio race? If we do, maybe we could get RSR and MSR to stop by.
