According to an article on Autocar about how MINI and Rolls are going to be expanding their model range there is this little tidbit in there. (emphasis added) Now I'm not really in the market for a new MINI so I haven't checked with any dealers to see if I could buy a GP II. Those of you that may have an interest, have you checked to see if they are still available or not? I know we have a few MINI Motoring Assistants on the site, can you offer any insight?
I have a 2006 GP and would have thought I would get a call from the dealer asking if I wanted to upgrade to a 2013 GP. No call yet. Maybe there is no need for the dealers to look for customers but it would make sense to first offer the new GP to your previous GP customers.
It may not be so much that they are "sold out" just that all of the dealers have spoken for them to sell on their lot..
This. Remember, MINI does not sell cars directly to consumers. Rather they sell them to independent dealerships. So this story just means that the allocations have been allocated (if the story is even correct).
Got my name on the list, but many dealers I've talked to at most have one person waiting so there is def. cars avail in the US.
I'm calling my dealer tomorrow to reserve mine. Now to justify only two seats to the better half and sell both my vw's
I understand that a total of 2000 will be built and approx 500 will be available in the US. Original GP owners and those on record of now having an original GP will get first crack at buying the new GPII. After that its first come, first served. If you own an original GP and want to buy the new JCW GPII, call your dealer now!
I think if I was an original GP owner I would want to keep the original and not trade it for a new red headed stepchild version. Thats just me, remember newer is not always better.
I know there were at least 3 at MINI of Portland the other day, they have 2 2006 GP's as well. I spoke to the president of the Puget Sound MINI Club today and he already has his.
