MINI USA is reporting sales of 4,884 automobiles, an increase of 18.3 percent from the 4,128 cars sold last year. 18% is the largest year over year increase we’ve seen thus far this year and surely was helped by successful incentives on the remaining 2010 inventory. Year-to-date, MINI USA also reported sales of 34,588 automobiles, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the 30,868 units sold last year
The above is right out the MINI USA press released. I to am trying to figure out how selling 3720 more MINI's this year over last is a 1.2% decrease.
Hmmmm I'm guessing that if the decrease is real, that the last years sales number put into the post doesn't include the latest month. Matt
More interesting takes on the numbers.... So, if you did really well in cash for clunkers, the Sept year on year increase is huge, cause inventories were depleted last year when cash for clunkers had done it's magic. Here are some examples: Ford Sept year on year up 46%! They did well in CFC and had low inventory in Sept last year. GM up 11%, they didn't do too well in CFC..... Chrysler is a bit of an anomoly in the stats.... They didn't do that well in CFC, but were in sales free-fall cause of the uncertain corportate future, and no-one was really buying a Chrysler product, they were up 61%!!!!! I really hate the month year to year sales number. It's a totally bad stat that gives little insight into what's really going on. here's an interesting take on the subject via WARD's: Ward Matt
