MINI USA has won two Residual Value Awards from TrueCar’s analytics division ALG.* The awards are for “vehicles and brands that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period.” The 2015 MINI Hardtop won the award for the Premium Compact Car category. How can you win an award for 3 year Residual Value on a 2015 car when its 2014? Another stupid award....
Simple math...dealers could not sell 2015's due to the epa issue... So the 2014 kept value........so if half the cars they looked at were hardtop f56...messed up the numbers... The about ALG part says it all....they are owned by "true car"...... A car buying serve mostly... So it is mostly a PR exercise...creating headlines for use in advertising...
One good lie deserves another.... Like the award... Think about it..car-buying service creates a company... That company then gives awards....driving sales of the brands awarded awards.... Selling more cars...which all happen to be brands that "play" with the "True car" model.... By creating press releases, they get free PR....their name is circulated....cost, near ZERO!! MINI disseminates the info at THEIR COST, through THEIR CONNECTIONS....mini sells more cars, as does "truecar"..... Yes, I do get offers from truecars buying service randomly sent to Me by USAA......saying it is s " great price" and "lower" than typical or average... Not sure I would say 100% equally beneficial..... But Like in most things...just follow the $$$.... Create data, to help folks " reserching" a car buy the one you are selling.... Heck, pages of awards that are worthless SOUNDS good to an uninformed buyer....
No, that's true! MINI is an independent brand, that is owned by BMW. If BMW chose to, they could sell MINI to someone else. Fiat, perhaps?
