I thought the computer gave you the adverage MPG for a trip, but it looks to me like it only tells you what the MPG reading was just before you shut off the engine. Which is correct? Jim
it just goes until you reset it....so technically i think you could be calculating AVG MPG from when it was new?! Takling about the one under COMP on the radio part right?..along with avg speed, temp, and the other thing...? just hit the button under it then hit reset....itll keep tabulating it until you reset it again....same w AVG SPEED hope im thinking of the same thing here lol
Here is what happened. I reset it and watched through my trip. It went back and forth from 40.2 to 43.6 until I came to a long hill which I coasted down with a reading of 48.3 and turned into a parking lot. I went in the store, came back out and hit the compouter which told me my adv speed was 48.3. That was actually just the reading when I stopped. Jim
odd. i assume you mean mpg not speed, but its completely different than when its set on "current mpg" or whatever... thatll give you like 99 mpg down a hill lol... constantly changes. From what ive seen mine seems to be from the last reset, but ill test out what it says like right when i stop... make sure it still looks 'average'
I have been watching it on the display in the center stack. Perhaps it reads differently when viewed on the rev counter. I'll try that tomorrow. Please let me know what yu find out. Jim
the CONSUM one is just avg mpg and it seems to be giving me just that, since the last time I hit RESET on it.... It will change less and less as I go through more and more miles, as it should...larger average of numbers. Another thing it obviously does, is the higher my AVG SPEED, the higher mpg i usually achieve.which makes sense for last 18 miles lol
And, according to a consumer study here, it then adds on 10% to make you feel better - just like Japanese motorcycle speedos. Andrew
Now I understand. The "real time" reading is in the tach and the one in the center stack is slower and shows the adv. Jim
