The contest has new organisers who are also former MJW queens, pageant director, Dr Terri-Karelle Reid, and pageant coordinators Sara Lawrence and Regina Beavers. They pointed out that this year's event will be more than just a beauty contest, and they will be working on serious matters which falls under the pageant's theme, 'Peace and Love Jamaica'. They also promised a bigger, better contest. Reid told guests that they will also be honouring an elected inner-city youth who has done tremendous community work. To find that individual, they are requesting the help of PALS with whom they have teamed up for the pageant, as well as the Ministry of Tourism. Reid revealed that the new queen will receive a 2011 Mini Cooper, courtesy of Stewart's Motors. The reigning queen, Kerry Baylis, along with former queens Lawrence and Beavers, joked that they may have entered the contest too early. From Jamaica Gleaner News Online -
Stewart Motors is the BMW/MINI/Suzuki dealer on the island. http://specials.suzukijamaica.com/mini.html
yes, seriously. Not all of JA is a slum like some parts of Kingston. Same here - never had a single issue there and we've never stayed at a resort...always rent a private home and we drive everywhere. I also find that odd coming from someone who lives in NJ (grand theft auto capital of the civilized world) this is a trap - you'll come back and tell me not ALL of NJ is like that
Lol - I don't particularly like NJ but my job pays the bills here and the part of NJ you are referring to is Newark - the car theft capital.. I live in South NJ. But as far as Jamaica - considering I have family and friends there, I probably spent more time there than you have.. I stand by what I said.
my old company had an office there and two of my co-workers lived there - I've spent time there as well. as for southern NJ, I guess Camden doesn't count?
That's an interesting dealership combo, especially with the old Suzuki/MINI ads where Suzuki was basically saying it was a better mini than the MIN.
