Must watch Pepsi hired Jeff Gordon to give car salesman the ride of his life! h Good fun, thanks for sharing.
Problem is... all the yoots on YouTube trying to one-up Jeff Gordon and prank a car salesguy, but without the skills and organization that go into that kind of shoot. Really funny, but kinda irresponsible of Pepsi, really. And Pepsi max tastes like diet cola. Sorry.
I have an opportunity to go to a wine tasting party, Jeff Gordon (and his wines) are the guest of honor. Don't know if I'm going to make it or not, but would it be innappropriate to come dressed in a Clint Boywer T-shirt?
How can you call that irresponsible? Isn't the "responsibility" when Pepsi ORGANIZES the whole entire prank? It's not like they didn't talk to the car dealership before hand. They probably purposely cleared all of the parking lot. I bet that salesmen just came back from a week or two vacation so he wouldn't notice anything sudden coming together. And they organized it, cleaning the parking lots all around the area, probably had the entire drive mapped out. And I bet that car that was in there was part of it. No one swerves like that. It was drama effects. Honestly I think it irritated me that you called this irresponsible. Because if this prank were to ever be done. This is the EXACT way it would have to be done to be absolutely safe and fun.. And I don't know why people can't enjoy things for what they are. Who cares if it was irresponsible for Pepsi, Sure tastes a lot better than dr pepper or coke. :rolleyes5:
Except it was all fake, Gordon wasn't even driving the car...... Jalopnik has the story... It Really Doesn't Matter That The Jeff Gordon Pepsi Video Is Totally Fake
Tummi, don't get all tweaked, you missed my point. I completely agree that the shooting of the video and the drive itself was fine, which is why I referenced "the skills and organization that go into that kind of shoot". If it were a Gymkhana video, that's great. It's posting that type of public-road driving (whether they were closed or not, nobody knows at the beginning of the shot) on YouTube that encourages driving hooliganism in the name of advertising. Funny, but why? Change the course so the car immediately goes from the dealership into a racetrack or industrial complex or whatever, and my viewpoint changes. My "rant" isn't all that passionate, it's a funny commercial, just could have been much better thought through. There are enough people trying to emulate "jackass" that more encouragement isn't needed. (disclosure: I autocross, I've instructed on performance driving, and I have occasionally been awarded "certificates of velocital achievement", so I'm no saint either! Maybe it's ME that doesn't need the encouragement!)
I see your perspective now. I think those people who are going to be encouraged to drive their vehicles like this are already the type of people who are going to end up in an accident due to some reckless driving on their own. If you are old enough to drive, you should definitely be able to make mature responsible decisions. And well, if you can't, you can't and you will pay the consequences at one point or another in your life. And I don't care, I feel people who make stupid choices deserve it then. It is the by standers and innocent people who are killed due to no control of right or wrong on their part that is horrible.
