Now that I'm back I can send some time and write abut the past week. Normally I leave for Fontana the Saturday before and spend a few days just relaxing, going on drives by myself and in general getting prepared for the week with Barry (Snooter). This year was different, due to a birthday party for my "sister" and Southern Culture on the Skids playing in Columbus on Sunday night I left on Monday. Monday the weather looked iffy for the route. I had plans to meet up with the Detroit Tuned and Michigan folks at the Ikea outside of Cincinnati. Mother Nature had other plans for me. A torrential downpour had me pulled over under a bridge for about 10 min while the rain passed, it was that heavy. I missed the group by about 5 min or so. Caught up to them in Lexington KY. The rain continued on and off all the way to just north of Knoxville, then the sun came out and the road was dry. We drove as a group to just south of Maryville where we all filled up with gas. Not wanting to follow the van and trailer I took off first leading a small group. It was not long till my enthusiasm and exuberance left them behind. About 1/2 way across the Dragon I got a bit woozy and nauseous. Slowed down a good bit. The group I left behind before caught me on Hellbender where I stepped it up some since I was feeling better. Checked in, got myself unpacked and then took a spin around the village. Quite a few more people are getting on the entire week bandwagon. Lots of people were around. Said a lot of hellos and popped into the Philly House. With the able assistance of Dave.0, Savvy and Steph we hung the MOTOR ON and M/A banners. That is Dave.0 front and center in the picture above taken by Savvy. Met Dick and his Jeep which a bunch of us piled into for dinner in the lodge. From there we drove places in the Jeep one is not supposed to drive. Sat around for a while and shot the carp. It was a darn good day. Tuesday dawned with rain in the forecast. The view from the lodge during breakfast. After breakfast it was down to the Adventure Center to help in Snooter's Sweat Shop where we stuff all the SWAG bags and fold all the shirts getting everything ready for registration. The clouds had parted by the time we finished so I went for a drive. Upon my return I tried to help TJ of Detroit Tuned finish up for the Spaghetti Dinner but he had it all under control. Speaking of the Spaghetti Dinner, Katie was very much missed. TJ and his dinner crew did a fantastic job, but it was just not quite the same. Hope to see you back in 2015 Katie! More Later....have errands to run before the store closes.
Yes, the errands are complete. However, for some reason I've been quite under the weather. I think I overdid it at MOTD and am paying for that now.
