So on the passenger side by the a pillar its leaking water onto my passenger floor. Its really bad and I wanna get to it as soon as possible. Anyone know exactly were its leaking or what's causing it. I know like I said its coming from the passenger a pillar just haven't pin pointed it yet
what year car? many gen1 cars have an issue in which freeze/thaw cycles disconnect the drain line for the sunroof...fix is to reconnect it...use a metal screw clamp...plastic will fail...also dry out the car...water will damage the bcm on the passenger side, or fusebox on the driver-side.
Yea its an 03 r50 n/a. It leaked behind the airbag on the a pillar and down the door jam onto the passenger floor. Been soaking up the water as much as possible. Called mini and they said it be 300$. More than willing to do this myself. Just don't know what I'm looking for.. And or what exactly is causing it
This sounds like either your drain hose has slipped off at the top (not likely) or has frozen and cracked and is now leaking after it defrosted. (More likley) Easy fix : Plug the hole for the front right (passenger side) drain and call it a day and have a cold beer. Since water finds it own level and can not be compressed it will use the othe 3 drain holes. The others are on the drivers side corner and the two in the back the exit to the rear hatch opening. You will see them if you open your hatch in the top corners. So if you're like me OCD and you want to fix it the right way you in for some work so allow yourself some time. Long fix; remove your lower trim and cover your BCM with a plastic bag and tape it up. You do not want that getting wet. Next you will have to pull off the A piller trim and unscrew the fabric catches that hold it from hitting you in the face when the airbag goes off. (Easy Job) all you need to do is pull on the weather stripping trim waway from the car and hang it off to the side so you can pull on the A panel. Pull out and then towards you. Next open the sunroof and you will see a drain hole in the front passenger side of the sun roof. You chould plug this hole with something like Silicone if you do the easy fix above. Long fix continued; use a small funnel and pour a little water in the hole and look for the leak. If your car was outside like Nathans all winter, snow or ice may have melted and then refrozen and cracked the drain line. Remember you cannot compress water. If you do not see the leak in the A piller and the water is running down the onside of the line the hose may be broken / cracked where it's connected. Now the real fun begins because you have to remove the whole headliner to access that area. Once that is removed you will be able to see everything and find the leak. If the hose is cracked don't just pull it out because if will be a real pain in the A to fish the replacement one. Get a new line of tubing about the same size at a hardware store. You can cut off a small piece to take with you to make sure it's the same size. If they have them buy an internal hose connector. Connect the new hose to the old cracked hose make sure it as as tight as you can get it. Use small wire ties or twist some strong wire around the outside where the hose connected and slowly pull the new hose through. While pulling out the cracked hose pull from the bottom and have someone feed the hose so it does not snag on anything. Also lube the hose with something like liquid soap so it slides smoothly. After you get the new hose in and fully test it out then you can start the process af putting all back together again. This is why the dealership charges so much to fix this because it a real pain in the A.
