Alrighty, I have no idea where else to post this and didn't see any other threads like this so here goes nothing. My car is pretty plain, so I want to spice it up a bit. I've been looking into adding onto my Mini since I purchased it a few weeks ago. Now that I'm absolutely sure everything is 100% solid in my car, I have money to spend on little things here and there and I was looking for suggestions for a new look. Can you all give me some ideas to add to my mini? New grille, Bonnet Stripe, Fog lights. Whatever it is, I want to hear it. The only thing I won't invest in: new rims and headlights (I like the factory rims/headlights :lol I look forward to creative suggestions.
You have a blank canvas to work with there. Pick your colors and do some kind of stripe and or graphic.. if your willing to add alittle flare to your wheels you can add your colors on your center caps of the wheels.. Just to get some color in there.. If you like blue get some blue tint. or what ever color might be legel in your state if any... I have orange on mine. PM sent.
Welp, I think in Pennsylvania, the tint NEEDS to allow more than 70% of light to shine in visibly. There's no real color restrictions for tint though, so that's always a plus. I'm not entirely sure of a color scheme to be honest. That's kind of why I'm posting. I mean, I have a kind of creme-colored car. It'd be easier if it were just a flat white lol
Looks like your car color is Pepper White. I think pretty much anything you choose will work. Like the decorator's white used to make walls look neutral in houses, it goes with anything, clashes with nothing. If color isn't your thing, black works great with PW. Maybe a black stripe (or pair of stripes) that goes nose to tail from bottom of front bumper to bottom of rear bumper. Just one option. You can find lots of ideas in the M/A Garage area, just click General and browse or do an advanced search and leave all the fields alone other than setting color to Pepper White.
Well, I'm pretty sure I want some sort of color. Black/white seems very.. ordinary to me and I want to stand out a bit.
Understood. Given you're starting out with a plain PW MINI there's no way to know where your "boring" and "too extreme!" lines are. Again, lots of ideas in the Garages. Here's an example, yes it's an R56 but you're just looking for ideas. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/member-garages/13518-2011-mini-cooper.html#axzz29UudUC2W
I was actually looking at that one specifically. I really like the way it was set up and it's really simple.
I think the Professor has a GP front bumper, rare as hens teeth me thinks. I believe Aaron at Outmotoring has the factory aero kits & grills. Not a cheap option, but nice looking. Speaking of nice looking your MINI looks very nice to my old eyes. Tint would look nice. I think a pair of BRG stripes would look great. Also getting a lighter set of wheels would do a lot for the looks. Can't go wrong with a nice set of driving lights. Man this is fun spending your money.
I have a pepper white however, I kind of like the look without bonnet stripes and what not. I bought mine with driving lights which I love, not just for their functionality but for the aggressive look. Also, I added a voltage scoop for the same reason; functionality and aggressiveness. But I like what minimark did with his car if you can find his garage. The stripes are wide and go all the way down the front and back of the car. Looks really good. But if you can find it or afford it, the jcw aero kit is really nice, looks and is OEM which in my book is key. When you try to ricerize your car it just looks cheap and fragile. :cornut:
As great as it looks, I don't think I'd really enjoy spending a large chunk of my spending money on the JCW kit lol You're right though, it is quite pricey. I think my car looks great, but I AM trying to make it stand out/look more aggressive and less frail. I mean, I like the actual design of the car lol so meh.
Your pepper white Mini would look good with two red strips running end to end like a old Camaro SS or Shelby. For my taste less is more including no stripes and I like every piece of chrome blacked out. Oh I am also in PA and our tint laws are a joke. You can get away with very dark windows. Its the front two windows (drivers/passenger) some officers care about but most don't bother with window tint any longer. Just so you know the law only applies to the front windows and you can tint the back 3 windows and sunroof like 5% , 10%, 15% and not even tint the front two and it will be nice and dark. *See may Garage.:ihih: You could also get lots of great ideas from browsing all the M/A garages since we have many great looking cars on M/A. In the end have fun and do whatever YOU want it's you car after all.
Just my two cents but an R53 is just not complete without a set of eyes under the bonnet. Ok, yeah, that was cheesy self promotion.
No! Really! The shock factor when you lift up the bonnet is great. I had to add coolant in a parking lot one time and a couple people walked by and thought it was really funny/neat. The car has so much personality that it is fun to play with b/c you personify it the way you want. Makes people jealous when they drive around in their plain old hondas etc.
@Dave I was looking into both black & red stripes, similar to: @Nathan Nice try, it almost worked ;D @Jim I would if I didn't have a sunroof and that requiring painting. I'm not a huge fan of painting because it's costly and I don't think Pennsylvania's current conditions really pertain to paint at the moment.
Nope no side stripes. Just 2 fat wide stripes (wide red w/black outline) on just the white parts would look cool. (No roof stripes) it looks really cool when its done right. By done I mean from the lowest part of the front bumpers to the windshield glass trim. I will try and find you a picture of what I am talking about. I think MiniMark car had hood stripes like what I am talking about one his blue MINI without the side accent stripe. Here is a car from the M/A garages showing what I am talking about.
Since your car is white you could really go with any color even Matte pepper white on glossy pepper white. I like the blue/black idea, but in the end it's all up to you and what you like. Here a great place to look: http://www.toddsmods.com/portfolio/ Below is MiniMarks car.
