All good here with all the dealings with Mike and Jay. Have a remote tune and no problems.

good deal...who did the remote tuning for you? Chad who installed and did the remote was hooked up with a guy in Greece I think...so far so good...what's your A/F at WOT? Mine's around 10.4 which looks pretty safe rich...conservative but I like it that way...

I did the data logging and sent the files to Jay. Once he had all the info he sent me the file to flash. My A/F is like 10.5-11.0 also very safe.

Not Mynes, the guy behind the keyboard...probably not Greece, I remember someone in Europe doing the tuning...

I have their tuning software and couldn’t be happier. All my dealings with them have been great. They have always been helpful and had great customer service. Very honest about what they can and can’t do. I believe you will be happy with anything you get from them.
There are some people who believe that there is only one person who knows how to tune and modify MINIs. I am sure that he has done a good job for them. However they can get carried away on the forums. I suggest you take some of this mudslinging with a grain of salt. Talk to the companies and make up your mind who you think will do the best job for you.

That's good to know...I don't believe DT would have chosen this tune if it was less than stellar...I plan on learning the in/out of this product so I can finesse it in the future...I'm just curious why I sense there's a certain distain towards this particular product...

I have heard that the Mynes guys are moving on to other vehicles types. Still planning to support the MINI stuff but might not be their main focus anymore..
Yes, there is a place ( probably others as well ) over in the UK that use the same tuning equipment and tune alot of MINIs over there...

I've never had a single issue with either Mike or Jay, hell both of them have always gone above & beyond for me. Pretty much all of the controversy was started by one person and through the whole thing there were only 3 or 4 people that actually came forward to say anything bad at all, out of "all" of their customers, worldwide. Jay is a very knowledgeable tuner overall who just happens to be well versed in BMW / Siemens as well.

As far as their products I'm totally happy, from my V2 header to my 550's to my Bytronic F/A, plus they hooked me up with my Sprintex, which I'm totally in love with.

As far as the guy in Greese, thats george, basiclly he's one of there vendors just like 1320 & others around the world.

From what I understand about the Mini stuff and them this is pretty much the way it was planned, if I'm correct it's all just based on demand, the r53 platform stuff is already there as well as all of the support for it, (don't forget it's a platform that was phased out 5 yrs ago) and as far as the r56 and others my guess is that there just wasn't enough intetest or demand to make it worth the what would be the considerable effort it would take to proceed. Don't forget in comparison to other companys and ecu codeing BMW / Siemens is a major PITA, why do you think not everyone that tunes can tune them and why there's a new push for the developement of compatable Stand Alone units, because they're easier.

They're not phasing out Mini, they're just not adding anything new, and are branching out into other things.

Just my understanding of it all.

Save your pennies...get a Vipec or LinkECU (same board just different firmware) R53 Plug-in Standalone and save yourself the headache of the POS stock ECU.

Lots of pennies for those......but a very good alternative to the tuning.

POS ECU? Really? Actually the stock ECU does a great job in what its supposed to do, give power when you need it, cut power when it sees fit, tries to optimize gas mileage......The problems arise when us "power mongers" try to get more than the stock parameters would allow normally.

Only when you really really want to push it would be the way I look at those stand alone devices.

For the vast majority the factory unit can be cajoled in the we want for the most part...sometimes.

Something else to keep in mind here...

The FullAcess software allows one to tune. It does not have to be from the seller of the software but it can be from any entity you trust to tune your car.

Thanks for bringing that up Nathan, I was going to bring that up on the other thread where F/A was mentioned.

F/A is nothing but software, a tool, all it does is give you access into your ecu to allow changes to be made, in that respect it's no different than the the pro. software that Jay, Jan & many others use to tune in that it's just a tool.

Anyone can use it, it's your choice, you can find someone you trust to use it or you can learn to use it yourself. It doesn't harm your car, nor does it tune your car, just like a stand alone, someone has to go in and make changes.

Keep it civil. It can be done.

I'll not cower to those that want to dump on this thread by closing it. I'll just keep pulling your posts.

Is it really civil if people are not able to post the truth?
