I've removed R53 mirror caps by simply and gently removing the mirror head by prying it out of its clips which then gives you access to the mirror cap clips. Tried it today on my '09 JCW and can't get the mirror heads to release. Any words of wisdom? :mad2:

I'd give Aaron a call. I'm sure those checkered mirror caps on his R56 did not install themselves. :smile5:

Thanks Steve for getting the DYI up in the Library. It's amazing how easy changing caps out on the R55 and R56 is using the method outlined.

Well, by buddy was walking past my MINI one day, bumped into the mirror and the cap fell right off (he is from Ohio, by the way). You could try that next time.

Yes, I was in Maryland at the time, but the person might have to be from Ohio. Why else would he have walked into my mirror? It's not like you can't see it. :D

You can also use a spatula or the thin rubber spreaders for applying bondo
