Hey guys, I hate to join a new board and then ask for favors but I am completely lost here with this darn car my daughter bought.

    Here is what happened....

We were driving back from the beach today, all of the sudden the car acted as if it has no power and no matter how much gas we gave it it acted as if we were applying the brakes. RPMs dropped to almost zero. My daughter shut off the car and the restarted it, she had to floor the gas pedal to get it to stay running. She shut it off again and it acted normal... sort of.

We get the car back home and when I would start the car it acted like it was going to start and then it shut off right away, rpms were really low too.

I have been researching it for hours, she has to leave to head home, 3 hour drive and it is getting late.

I went out there a moment ago and now all it does is turn over and it doesn't seem to be getting any spark... or something.

    Please help if you can.

    Thanks everyone.

    Kevin

Mini Cooper or Mini Cooper S? Does it have a scoop on the hood?

It sounds like it has went into limp mode. How many miles and has the crankshaft dampener/ pulley been replaced?

Did it overheat and/or the power steering quit working? Warning lights?

Where is the car? Maybe we can direct you to a reputable repair shop.

I cant say as to the dampener, she has only owned it for 4 months. It did not overheat and the power steering is still doing what it should, or it seems it is. We are in New Port Richey, Florida.

    What is limp mode?

When the car cuts the power in an effort to keep you from causing any more damage.

In simple terms Limp mode is when the cars computers limit power to keep from damaging key components.

Near Tampa/St Pete. Here's a bump for anyone that can recommend a repair shop.
