Hello, Well I figured it was a good time to Introduce myself. Im in the process of buying an 05 hyper blue Cooper S with the chrono package, Currently attempting to soak up as much info as I can and this has been a great place to do so. Im getting the car transfered in and have to wait roughly a month. So as you can probably imagine Im absolutely beside myself. I have always loved Minis and origionally went to buy an 08 JCW but couldnt afford it. Ended up getting a new civic SI which I enjoy but the payments are high and I grow tired of everyone trying to race me and having to spend a ton of money for little horsepower. So in conclusion Im exited to be here and any comments suggestions and so on and so forth are welcome i will post pictures as soon as the car comes in. Also on a secondary note is there anything I can look for as far as a way to tell if the car has any Mods or factory packages to it other than obvious give aways such as JCW plates on the intercooler?, reason being is one of the pictures I was shown of the car it appears to have the JCW airbox and seems a tad out of place to me for someone who just bought a cooper as a commuter car. Again thanks for any help and Im glad to be here learnin what I can about the (hopefully) soon to be new car. -Cody
Welcome to the site. If you have the vin number, I think you can go to the Mini site and figure out what the care came with. I am sure you will get more info tomorrow from those in the know. A JCW intake was an easy and popular upgrade, so don't be surprised if it has one. In either case, enjoy.
Hey there Mr.Coty, welcome to M/A, glad to have you. Good luck with your MINI adoption. When you get your new baby, don't forget to build your garage with lots of pic's. And don't forget to pick out a name for your MINI.
Welcome aboard . Do you know the previous owner was ? They will tell you anything you need to know about your new baby, MINI people are like that . If not take pictures, look for colored parts (springs, anti-sway bars, super-charger pulley), an air filter that's not a PITA to change. We're all here to help, Mark
Welcome and you will figure everything out in time. I am still learning things about mine two years later. Jim
Welcome an 05 is a great car. If it has a JCW airbox it could be a JCW, but it is common for people to add just the intake so check it out.
Unfortunately I dont know the previous owner. By looking at the pictures i have it doesnt look like there is anything but the intake but one can always hope its a hidden jewel Thanks for all the comments and warm welcome.
Welcome aboard. You'll love every minute. Lot's of really knowledgeable people on here to help you with everything you'll ever need to know!
Welcome to MA ! While waiting for the arrival, read alot of posts and you will learn all about your new MINI ! Enjoy, once it arrives ! ! !
I bought my 05 as a commuter about a month and a half ago, but I started modding things (including the air intake and exhaust) about a week into owning it. I found the original owner of the car (who also bought it for commuting, but didn't do ANYTHING to it) on the internet. He gave me his old keys (which was nice) but they started the car right up....if anyone in your area might have a copy of your key, I'd suggest an alarm system with ignition kill be your first mod. Nothing worse than your car being driven away without you.... Congratulations, and welcome to the club!
Luckily the car was transferred in from Florida so its quite a ways a way. And much to my delight the car came in yesterday and i picked it up last night. From what I can see the JCW intake is the only thing on it although it does feel considerably quicker than my civic did considering I assume they put down roughly the same WHP with the benefit going to the civic and weight to the MINI (obviously). But thanks to all on this site you made the wait bearable
Watch out for this guy Mr Coty. His outfit makes some very cool stuff you will have to have, but don't know it yet. :cornut: Jim
