I got my new Red WMW High Performance Ignition wires and the New WMW Bar Type Belt tensioner stop, real good looking part. And got the Lifting block that was missing from the Right front side and the 2 MINI hubcap appliques from Out Motoring came in also. Hope to be able to be able to order the A.T.I. Super Damper Crank pulley later this month or at least get the Craven Speed Supercharger Pulley puller and Belt tensioner tool and the polyurethane bushings for the hydraulic damper on the belt tensioner.

You might wanna check out Alta's stiffy adjustable belt tensioner that permanently replaces the damper & renders the spring useless. You won't need poly bushes nor a stop anymore.

Don't even bother with the ALTA belt tensioner.

    All ALTA parts are crap.

Don't listen to Dave.0, there are some Alta parts worth getting and that is one.

    ALTA's motto: "It almost fits"

ALTA parts are for new people that do not what good and reliable parts are.

Friends ALTA not let friends buy ALTA.

I thought I was the only one that hated ALTA.:cornut: As new as I am to the modding world, I know quality when I see it. As soon as I started looking up ALTA parts they looked cheap and I also noticed a ton of people had it and I am one to not follow the crowd; even if it is harder on the pocket book.

Anyway, back to the original post. You may actually want to rent a pulley puller from Way instead of buying one. You will probably only use it once anyway.

Let the fun begin. Are you doing the install or having it done?

When's the last time any of you complaining about Alta had any of their parts on your car? Just curious because I hear this a lot from some crowds.

:cornut: In all fairness, I have Alta parts on my Margi(08 R56 MCS/JCWm) that work very well. I had only one 'junker Alta part' and that's been replaced and Alta doesn't make it any more. A lot of Alta controversy early on but I think that things have improved however, with ANY AEM , let the buyer beware.(and I can't help it, DaveO always cracks me up. He's such a shy and retiring wall flower.)

I'm not an Alta worshipper and in fact I generally look elsewhere for parts. I know they've had some stumbles historically but I guess my point is much of the Alta slamming seems to get passed on via heresay or by someone who had a part way back when. I have to say though their new compressor recirc valve is the best thing on the market compared to other solutions I've seen and the darn thing works like the OEM diverter valve should. This is the only Alta part I own and it's quality/design just doesn't jibe with all the hate I read about the Company.

I had ALTA parts long ago, they failed and I have since moved on to better quality parts.

Haha! Had fun w/ all your responses.:D Was just mentioning the old school adjustable belt tensioner that maybe only Alta has out in the market. It's got no moving parts & shouldn't have much chance of failing.:fingerscrossed: Might be worth checkin' out.:D

I have their adjustable sway bar and rear control arms on my R53, no complaints. (I must admit though, I bought 'em cause they're red.) I personally think that there is a correlation between complaints and #of sales. Alta was one of the early vendors of aftermarket mini stuff, therefore more parts are out there to have issues.

I have the Alta CAI. It's rusty in a couple spots, the hardware is tiny and SAE, and the silicone intake hose never fits quite right. It's the worst aftermarket part I've put on my car, and it forced me to analyze each future part thoroughly, asking friends and trusted mechanics which brand they prefer.

I'm having a foreign car mechanic do it as I'm no longer able to get that involved because of my back injury and I don't have the hydraulic lift or jack stands or hydraulic floor jack. I talked to WMW this morning and was told there was a 16 week waiting list for the one loaner Supercharger pulley puller they have, but would sell me one for $10.00 off because of the waiting period. And I'm having the front and rear motor mounts on top replaced along with the lower engine mount at the same time because there were some age cracks on the rear motor mount on the passenger strut tower. So I decided to do it all at once since he was going to be already in there. I bought the WMW belt tensioner plate type they have just come out with and it is a good looking piece. It has a bushing that fits over the lower hydraulic damper bushings and is held in place by the bolt, and the upper end is slotted and has a bushing that is machined to fit into the slot on the upper damper bushing bolt and this allows it to move but stops it from allowing the lower end of the hydraulic damper to get into the crankshaft pulley.

    Way.....

    Hint....

Kick in a second "loner" pulley puller....:D

16 weeks is too long to push paying customers (another hint, they look just like the ones for sale)....:eek6:
