Hi All, I am a new Mini Coop owner and absolutely love it!! It's been so much fun meeting people who come up to me to ask about the Coop. I have a question, I have had my car for one month now...unfortunately, someone backed into me and now I have a crack in the front bumper, and no, they did not stop or leave any info...I discovered this as I returned to my car in the parking lot of the Mall. All they left was yellow paint and a crack...does anyone know approximately how much it will cost to repair and can anyone suggest where to take it? I live in SE Massachusetts... Thanks!!
I smacked a raccoon on Thanksgiving 2009 and put a crack in my bumper cover. I called the dealer and ordered a new bumper cover and asked them to paint it Chili Red. Since my car is a 2005, I got a new chin spoiler, lower grille, etc. and installed it myself. If you don't need any other parts and you're willing to install it yourself, you might be able to do it for about $500-600.
A little after the fact now but you will learn that a preponderance of MINI drivers park their cars AWAY from the madding herd in those big lots even tho it may entail a longer walk. Sorry for your boo-boo but it can be taken care of. Look to your insurance. You may have Uninsured Motorist coverage. Also, did you file an official report?
Welcome, thanks for joining Motoring Alliance. Might want to check with one of our Sponsors in the area, MINI of Bedford.
Just my opinion, but... Have a good body shop (i.e. one you trust, which could be your local Mini dealer's shop, or one you've used in the past that you feel did right by you) check the car before you call your insurance company. The repair my be under your deductible, in which case your insurance company doesn't need to know. Or it may involve energy absorbing components of the bumper; if those have been compressed it's actually pretty important to replace them, or your next accident, even a minor one, may cost you a boatload of money.
:cornut: Welcome to MA. Sorry about your MINI and hope that all goes well. My 35lbs Raccoon swan dive suicide was Nov2011 at 65mph and cost $5k(ins good for $4k):mad2:. Took out: front bumper, intercooler, radiator, right fog light, part of the A/C,oil cooler, and all associated wires/hoses/fasteners...........but now I have a nice fur hat with a tail. Jason
I got off easier than you did. All I had was a crack in my bumper cover. I fixed it over the Christmas holidays. If that minivan hadn't been trying to draft behind me, the JCW Brakes would have saved me from hitting him in the first place...
