I finally got my new wheels & tires installed and boy did it end up being a bigger ordeal then originally planned. I wasn't feeling to good the night UPS delivered the wheels and I ended up in ICU with a heart attack & mild stroke so I wasn't even able to see them until I got discharged from the hospital. I kept begging the docs to let me go home so I could check them out and get them installed. 2 days after getting home I did end up dragging the boxes into my basement so I could check them out & paint the center of the rivets chili red to match the car, looking back it was a pretty dumb thing to do as I almost ended up back at the emergency room.:mad2: I did have to wait another 3 1/2 weeks before I was strong enough to load the wheels into my Clubby and drive to the tire shop and get them installed. These wheels have a special meaning to me for all the work it took for me to get them on the car, so I hope everyone appreciates them like I do. Cheers, Ocean The Wheels are Konig Privat 18x7.5 Netz and the tires are Continental Extreme Contact DWS 215/35RX18
Nice wheels.... I remember meeting you at the "Slay the sleeping Dragon" last fall. I thought that was pretty slick what you did with the red vinyl on the spokes of your wheels. I like the new ones even better. Hah.... I also remember your dad..... He was the one that had a non-ending string of jokes. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Hope to see you again this fall. My wife and I will be there again. Chuck
Thanks guys, I am just trying to get strong enough to make it to MOTD...44 days to go and I am still on a walker and guad cane but making headway everyday:cornut: yesterday I was able to wash my car for the first time in over a month. Chuck, it was good meeting you too. The older man you met was a buddy that is like a dad to me and yes his jokes go non-stop. He is a pretty special guy and loves MINI's so I wanted to treat him for all he does for me. So far I have taken him twice to the fall dragons. Funny thing this last year on our last run going home, I was taking the dragon a little to hot and got him pretty sick we both still laugh if iit was intentional to keep him quiet or not:devil:
....take it from another heart attack survivor, listen to your cardiologist, make sure you're recovered and then live like there's no tomorrow. Glad to hear you're on the mend...MINI's are patient cars...it will wait for you :beer
Me Too! 15Oct01. Inferior(bottom of the heart) Myocardial Infarction secondary to 98% occlusion of the right coronary artery. Balloon angioplasty and stent. Thank you ,feels much better now and what happened to that poor elephant that was standing on my chest when I went unconscious?. Lipitor, baby aspirin, and Beta Blocker for ever. Single vessel/single lesion disease. I'm good as new, heart wise any way. Jason
Great looking MINI! Wheels compliment the other exterior mods you have. Black with polished lip fit perfectly with the rest of the car.
Thank you everyone for you kind words on my wheels & situation. I have been dealing with severe heart & kidney problems for over 8 years now and unfortunately it had continued to get progressively worse so I guess I am no stranger to medical issues or know of the risk of a heart attack or stroke. I am still not stabilized enough for surgery yet but it will be in my future. I am still pretty young so the stroke has been the hardest to deal with, as it has affected my right side as well as a little bit of my mind & speech. Thankfully I am improving everyday and am already able to walk short distances with my cane and can stand for a short time. I only live about an hour and half from the dragon so I am still hoping that I can attend again this year even if I'm a little wobbly.
Me also unfortunately, end of Nov '09....left anterior descending, 95% occlusion, 1 stent, 9 pills a day for life it seems! Glad to hear all of you are OK and still Motoring too!
