Hi folks , I have just bought a 2006 Mini Cooper S Checkmate with just 13,000 miles on her and having just swapped out an M3 CSL for her- general economy reasons!! I can only say what a superb little car wirth a big heart!! I have already fitted EIBACH pro sport lowering springs a GTT cold air intake,NGK iridium plugs and an M7 front strut brace ...... next step being a GTT pulley and remap with a one ball exhaust mod...... hope the other half doesn't notice all the UPS deliveries tee hee.. You really do have a great MINI following in the States and I am balancing up the best of both worlds for future mods, UK and USA , not wishing to take the car too far away from being a reliable daily driver with the odd track day thrown in at Silverstone and Donnington which are both within half an hour from my home !! Regard Richard
Hello and welcome to the madness! Sounds like you have yourself a great MINI! We love pictures here too! Cheers Mr. Jim
Hey there greenson, welcome to M/A. Wow, only 13,000 miles on a 06, that's super. Yeah, load up your garage with pic's of your new MINI.
Thanks for the warm welcome < I am nursing a slipped vertebrae at the moemnt so am sacnning all the forums and you guys have the edge at the moment for honest mature answers, noit the usual cr*p on some of the other boy racer forums - hand bags in the school yard some of 'em !! I will get some pics loaded of my previous cars as well when I get sorted - spine wise !!
Welcome to MA! Nice find on your MINI. Even after years I can never get use to the location of the UK produced cars steering wheel.....
Welcome. Nice looking ride, although I would love to see the pics of your M3. Don't think we got he CSL over here.
Welcome to MA.. Car looks great.. and I agree.. is the steering wheel on the wrong side?? ( dont you love the American humor..."wrong side" LOL) I have to say when I go to the UK, I do wear out the brake pedal on the 'left side" when we come to round-abouts!! Our friends just laugh and motor on!! LOL UK Rocks! ( esp "Mr. Whippy" ice cream!! ) Just me............................. Thumper
Sorry my error < the M3 was a CS Clubsport, sort of a run out E46 before the E90 with CSL sterring and brakes etc plus a few other trick bits Also given a few shots of the old Ford Focus RS 255 bhp !! 2.0 litre turbo
They gave us a Focus, but sure ain't like those. I always wondered why the boys from Top Gear rave about the Focus, over here it's a P.O.S. Just my 2cents...
yes it always attracted attention , special colour fro M3 CS and M5 Interlagos Blue- ther Focus was alimited run of 2147 units I believe, all numbered <quite a special a car with Quaife LSD , Sparco seats etc, garrat turbo , forge actuators etc , brembo brakes, Sachs and bilstein suspension, they can see 300bhp without much trouble , quite a strong cult car in the UK and parts of Northern Europe , do you get the new model Focus RS ( Rally Sport) in the US ?

When I was in the military, all our field trainings were called Something Focus. Marne Focus (3rd Infantry), Tusker Focus (64th Armor), etc. Of course everyone involved always pronounced "Focus" in a very derogatory and NSFW manner. Somehow it always seemed appropriate for the US version of the vehicle.
When I worked for Mercedes they had a similar name for their executive planes sounded like the top brass flew around in big Fockers or if you were a lower grade a little Focker - I thought it starnge at the time !! lol
Yep, I was looking an IB M5 recently. Hard to find, had to go for a nice black one. And no, no Focus RS for us, sadly.
That is a beautiful checkmate MCS! You will LOVE the new pulley. My mind reeled at the thought of running Donnington or Silverstone! I don't know if we have an edge on mods but you surely have it trackwise. Maybe you can get some tape of you tearing up one of those two! Welcome! Cheers! Chris
