G’day all, nice forum you have here..... Lots of handy information that seems to Be hard to find here in Australia for some Reason. Recently acquired a 07 MCS R56 after my much loved 06 R53 had an unfortunate run in with a kangaroo. Sadly MINI came off worse than the roo. Good to know They are built BMW tough I suppose and I got out unscathed. Anyhow really hoping lightning won’t strike twice, and look forward to many bendy (roo free) roads in the R56. Cheers Miniac
@Miniac - welcome to MA! Sorry about the roo hitting! Sucks to ruin a car that way. At least your ok. Here in the states it’s deer. What part of AU are you from?
Welcome to MA! I believe this happened a few years ago at WRC Australia. Sorry to hear about your R53.
Thanks Sully, deer sound quite treacherous.... at least Roos only have two legs! Myself I currently live in Canberra, about halfway between Melbourne and Sydney. What part of the states are you from? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I believe you are right, I don’t think animals discriminate, headlights all look the same to them I guess... However, I think It would have been a slightly different outcome in my Land Rover defender..... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Roos have only 2 legs, but, man do they ever kick! Welcome to M/A! We don't kick here, but sometimes we do spat a bit!
Haha, they sure do have a kick! I remember hiking and came across a male roo with a 6 pack and biceps that would rival any gym junkie..... I backed away very slowly... lol I think anyone who has worked on a MINI is allowed to have the odd spit and spat every now and then! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Welcome to the forum. I rolled a Chevy Vega wagon once trying to avoid wildlife. I fit in my Mini better than I did in that car.
Yea not my finest moment! But like I said the car did hold its own... sort of. Don’t swerve has been the biggest lesson I have learned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haha that’s exactly what my dad said! I drove through a river crossing cane up over a chicane and drove through an open gate... where two Roos were hanging out on the other side. One went right, the other one went left.....then right. Then it went over the bonnet. I freaked, turned the wheel left and went the wrong way down an embankment, towards the river. The car came to rest on its roof. The police said I was extremely lucky not to end upside down in the river.... in hindsight I think he was right. Curiously no airbags deployed, as the officer said though.... they don’t generally put sensors on the roof. Like I said not my finest moment! Sad, sad day Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Welcome to M/A- the best MINI site on the net. Some day I would like to visit your country, it's very beautiful.
