If there’s one thing that MINI consistently gets dinged on in consumer feedback is a lack of room. Even though it’s called a MINI, there are many markets that prize space and utility above almost all else. And MINI intends to respond. But instead of making the 3rd generation MINI hatch (aka the F56) bigger, [...] (visit MotoringFile for the full article) More...
:cornut: The 3rd(half)door sounds good to me. I'd like to have one on my R56. When we go on long trips(that's a 1hr trip to Mom), my mother-in-law loves the car, roof vents, and back seat but,at 85yo, she has trouble getting in and out. She insists that my lovely wife sit up front with me. I'm for a 3rd door on my next MINI. Jason
As a Clubman owner, the third door is better than not having it, but not much..... The seatbelt gets in the way, and you still have to climb in, your 85 y/o mom won't be riding back there even with third door access. The biggest problem with riding in the hatch is there just isn't much room back there....the Clubby is better, but if you want your mom to ride in back, buy a Countryman - that thing is amazing for how much rear seat room it has and how comfortable it is. And with 4 doors and reclining seats, she'll be very happy back there!
:cornut: Whoa Cowboy. My 85yo mom already does ride in the rear seat of my R56 at her own insistance and says the she's very comfortable there(small Lady). I'd never force my Mother-in-Law to do any thing. I've had 3 of them and she's an absolute gem of a lady. I was just saying that a 3rd(half) door would be nice to have. I'd love to have a Clubman but not a Countryman although I wish that my lovely wife wanted a Countryman. Jason
